MP Serré highlights Federal support community centre in Lavigne

NICKEL BELT – GREATER SUDBURY - Today, Marc G. Serré, Member of Parliament for Nickel Belt, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Energy and Natural Resources and Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Official Languages attended the grand opening of the “La Visitation” community park in Lavigne. The park, part of community center overhaul, was supported by a $75,000 Federal government investment through the Canada Healthy Communities Initiative.

The Canada Healthy Communities Initiative helps create and adapt existing public places such as parks, commercial main streets, and indoor spaces to enable people to participate safely in cultural or physical activities.

The Lavigne Community Centre (CCL) has been developing the community centre which includes a multi-use park and playground. They did an official opening on June 30th, 2024, with a community barbecue. Funds were raised from multiple sources, including the Municipality of West Nipissing, community partners, and the Federal government. The park is located at 17 Caron Road in Lavigne and is open to residents of all ages.
