Marc G. Serré Member of Parliament for Nickel Belt, is currently seeking to fill the position of Constituency Assistant in the Val Caron Constituency office. This is a permanent position which would follow a Monday to Thursday work schedule. Interested candidates can email their CV to [email protected]
Duties:
- Managing casework including outreach on all matters related to the Federal Government
- Manage and respond to inquiries from constituents, in person, by phone, email and virtually
- Ensuring constituent confidentiality, with bias-free language
- General office administration and telephone reception
- Manage, track and draft correspondence
- Database management
- Process, create and ship celebratory certificate requests for the MP, Prime Minister, Governor General and the King
- Managing and maintaining office filing system
- Work closely with secondary constituency office as well as the Parliament Hill office to ensure shared priorities and consistent messaging
- Keep up to date on local media issues and events
- Community and public outreach, including possible events planning and execution
- Availability to work some evenings and weekends as required
Qualifications:
- Bilingual in both French and English oral and written communications
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high stress environment
- High proficiency in Microsoft Office and a general computer literacy
- Previous office experience is essential
- Previous experience working directly with the public is essential
- Ability to identify each level of government and their jurisdiction
- Knowledge of government departments and community organizations and ability to effectively liaise
