Federal funding to support tourism and future growth across Northern Ontario
NICKEL BELT – GREATER SUDBURY - Today, Marc G. Serré, Member of Parliament for Nickel Belt and Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Official Languages, announced $100,000 to help the Temagami Outpost modernize and expand its facilities, create new tourism experiences and extend its operating season. The announcement was made on behalf of the Honourable Patty Hajdu, Minister of Indigenous Services and Minister responsible for FedNor.
Provided through the Government of Canada’s Tourism Relief Fund (TRF), this targeted investment helped repair and upgrade the dock, cabins, and main lodge, including adding a new common area and screened porch. It also helped the Temagami Outpost complete electrical, solar and water system upgrades, construct a shared washroom facility with four private showers and build a three-bedroom cabin with a bathroom and kitchen. With the goal attracting more guests and diversifying its client base, the project will also support trail and pathway enhancements so the Outpost can offer guided hikes and eco-tourism experiences.
