Cache Bay receives funding through Veterans Affairs Canada’s Commemorative Partnership Program
Canadians in uniform have served our country with bravery, honour and dignity—some making the ultimate sacrifice. We continue to preserve their legacy and recognize their contributions and sacrifices as a way to pass the torch of remembrance to future generations.
Marc G. Serré, Member of Parliament for Nickel Belt and Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Officials Languages announced $14,225 in Government of Canada funding to restore the Cache Bay cenotaph erected in memory of local veterans. MP Serré made the announcement on behalf of the Honourable Lawrence MacAulay, Minister of Veterans Affairs and Associate Minister of National Defence.
The existing monument will be removed and replaced by a new one at the same site, and a bronze plaque will be refurbished and reinstalled. Additionally, the flagpole and flag will be replaced, and enhanced lighting will be installed around the cenotaph for visibility and security.
