Celebrate Canada features days of national significance such as National Indigenous Peoples Day (June 21); Saint-Jean-Baptiste Day: a celebration of Canadian Francophonie and the Fête nationale du Québec (June 24), Canadian Multiculturalism Day (June 27) and Canada Day (July 1).
This year, the Government of Canada has funded nearly 1,500 events that will take place from coast to coast to coast throughout the summer. Across the country, there will be many opportunities to pay tribute to the people and places that make Canada beautiful and to celebrate the ethnic, linguistic, cultural and regional diversity that helps make Canada truly inclusive and open to the world.
Learn more about these days and mark them in a way that reflects your values, through actions that reflect your interests and passions, and by celebrating the history that represents you and your community.
“More than just summer celebrations, these days are opportunities to learn from each other and to reflect on our values, our past and our future as a society. I invite you, wherever you are in Canada, to reconnect with your loved ones and your community, and to participate in activities in your region. Let us take advantage of these opportunities to strengthen the ties that bind us together on the road to reconciliation and a better future.” - Pablo Rodriguez, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Quebec Lieutenant
“We thank the Federal government for this financial support. These funds enable the municipality to host a Canada Day celebration that all residents and visitors can enjoy. This includes a community BBQ, children's activities and fireworks display. We are really looking forward to people being together to celebrate the nation and enjoy the festivities.” – Nancy Wirtz, Mayor of the Municipality of Killarney and Celebrate Canada recipient
“The Lake Wahnapitae Home and Campers Association (LWHCA) is very appreciative of funding from Heritage Canada to support a Canada Day celebration in Skead. The funding will be used to support a community barbecue at the Skead Recreation Centre, including “backyard games”, local musicians, and fireworks by “Dreamcatcher Fireworks” from Wahnapitae First Nation. The motto of the LWHCA is “Protect, Enrich and Enjoy” the Lake Wahnapitae community. The Heritage Canada funding will allow Lake Wahnapitae residents to enjoy our national holiday right in their own community.” – Chuck Jacobs, President, Lake Wahnapitae Home Campers Association and and Celebrate Canada recipient
"The Northern Ontario Railroad Museum and Heritage Centre would like to thank MP Marc Serre and the Celebrate Canada Fund for the continued support of Capreol’s Canada Day festivities. The funding allows the museum to open up to all members of the community providing visitors access to northern Ontario’s rich heritage as it relates to the lumber, mining and railroading industries." - Cody Cacciotti, President, NORMHC and Celebrate Canada funding recipient
“Canada day is an important time to reflect, observe and spend time with family. The Canada Celebrates funding is an important opportunity for constituents of the Greater Sudbury-Nickel Belt region to gather with fellow community members and spend much needed time with friends and family. I highly encourage the residents of the Greater Sudbury-Nickel Belt region to take advantage of the events that these important community partners have organized for you and take a moment to learn about Indigenous reconciliation.” – Marc G. Serré, député de Nickel Belt et secrétaire parlementaire de la ministre des Langues officielles
