MP Serré remains engaged with constituents and accountable to the priorities set forth by residents from across the Nickel Belt – Greater Sudbury riding. He reminds constituents that his staff are accessible to help support them with questions and various programs and services administered by the Federal government. Here is a look at some of what took place in January:

  • MP Serré returned to Ottawa on the 31st, and will continue participating in both in person and Hybrid format of the Parliamentary Session
  • MP Serré participated in various caucus and committee meetings including the National Caucus, Indigenous Caucus, Rural Caucus and, Official Languages and Status of Women committee meetings 
  • MP Serré continued his Parliamentary Secretary functions and duties- in doing so he engaged with organizations listed below concerning the protection and advancement of minority languages in the country:

·         Canadian Francophone Colleges and Universities (ACUFC) 

·         Air Canada

·         Quebec Community Groups Network

·         Canadian Parents for French

·         Federation of Francophones in British Columbia

·         Raymond Théberge, Commissioner of Official Languages

·         The federation of Francophone business people of Ontario

  • Marc continues to meet with his Constituency Office staff, residents, stakeholders, municipal leaders, Indigenous communities, not-for-profit, local entrepreneurs and more, to keep the pulse on the priorities in the region
  • Marc continues his role as Chair of the Canadian Section of ParlAmericas
  • Marc discussed labour shortages with the Azilda Carpenter’s Union Local 2486
  • Marc shared his career journey and details on the political landscape in Nickel Belt with Chad Chenard, an interested grade 12 student for Horizon Secondary School
  • MP Serré, along with his colleague, MP Rota met with District of Nipissing Social Services Administration Board to discuss submitted and future funding applications
  • Marc met with the Mayor of Greater Sudbury Brian Bigger, and stakeholders of the Junction East project to discuss the development and prospects
  • Marc met with Andre Dumais, President of Ionic Technology group concerning Northern Ontario’s mining industry potential related to exportation and job creation
  • Marc met with representatives of RAMO, local partners and stakeholders such as FedNor, Vale, Glencore and others to discuss a circular economy model to help achieve sustainable development objectives
  • Marc met with Daniel Giroux, president of Collège Boreal to get an update on the post secondary’s priorities and visions
  • Marc spoke with Evelyn Dutrisac concerning Nickel Belt – Greater Sudbury housing initiatives
  • Marc met with Serge Miville concerning the University of Sudbury’s strategic plans
  • Marc met with Rebecca Foisy, Director of the West Nipissing Chamber of Commerce concerning support for local businesses and the importance of shopping local
  • Marc spoke with constituent Doris Labelle concerning increases to essential worker pay
  • Marc met with Mayor of St.-Charles Paul Schoppmann to get municipal updates
  • Marc met with Dave Paquette regarding a possible long-term care project in Capreol
  • Marc spoke with constituent Leo Martel concerning support for all Canadian children
  • Marc touched based with Chief of Wahnapitae First Nation, Larry Roque, to discuss priorities and upcoming developments
  • Marc met with Susan Church from Blue Sky Net about further rural broadband expansion opportunities for underserviced regions
  • Marc met with Angela Recollet concerning Indigenous priorities and reconciliation
  • Marc met with Stephanie Paquette concerning a care services framework for mental health and addictions
