MP Serré praises 2021 Throne Speech
November 23, 2021

Since being elected in 2015 MP Serré has consistently heard from residents that they want a government that supports the things that matter most to them. MP Serré praises today’s Throne Speech delivered by Governor General, Her Excellency the Right Honourable Mary Simon. The Throne Speech aligns with the concerns he’s heard directly from constituents in Nickel Belt – Greater Sudbury. The Throne Speech paints an optimistic picture for the country with a great emphasis on issues such as:

The Federal government has been acting swiftly since the beginning of the pandemic to ensure concrete and direct support measures were available for individuals, families, businesses, youth, Indigenous communities, seniors and Canadians with disabilities. Support is still flowing with targeted approaches for industries and sectors that continue to face barriers.

“These unprecedented circumstances have taken an economic, social and mental toll on our communities and I am energized to be back in the House of Commons and take part in this progressive Throne Speech. I am humbled to have been re-elected for a third term to represent and continue to advocate to further local needs and priorities for the benefit of constituents of Nickel Belt-Greater Sudbury,” said Serré.

“I remain steadfast to ensure a rural lens is applied when new legislation is considered and passed. Although as a government, we have made significant strides across the country which have positively impacted a great number of Canadians overall, there is more work to be done. The realities we live here in Northern Ontario are unique - we still face gaps in services for broadband, access to affordable child care, aging infrastructure and more. I am focused on my responsibilities and look forward to future collaborations and partnerships with municipal governments, residents, stakeholders, businesses, not-for-profits, Chambers of Commerce, Indigenous communities, small businesses and others, to capitalize on opportunities brought forward by the 2021 Throne Speech,” concluded Serré.
