MESSAGE FROM MARC G. SERRÉ YOUR NICKEL BELT MP

May brought forth some optimistic news. We reached a monumental milestone in the Sudbury Public Health and District encashment area with over 100,000 vaccine doses administered! Thank you to all for rolling up their sleeves and to all the team working hard to make this process efficient!

Happy to report that funding was announced to support accessibility, veterans and economic development initiatives and more. Despite still having challenges ahead of us, there is a profound sense that we are beginning to move in a positive direction. Encouraging everyone to get vaccinated and to keep following public health measures! One step closer to warmer weather and summer!

MP SERRÉ IS WORKING HARD FOR NICKEL BELT – GREATER SUDBURY:

  • Coordination with constituency office staff to remain updated on the local concerns of Nickel Belt – Greater Sudbury residents
  • MP Serré participates in a Hybrid House of Commons schedule between the riding and in Ottawa
  • MP Serré fulfills Parliamentary Secretary (PS) duties outlined by the Minister of Natural Resources, the Honourable Seamus O’Regan and his team
  • MP Serré is working collaboratively with his MP colleagues to address the pressing needs of the local and national not-for-profit sector
  • MP Serré had calls and meetings with various stakeholders, organizations, businesses and constituents from across Nickel Belt – Greater Sudbury
  • MP Serré met with the Ambassador of Chile H.E. Raul Fenandez to discuss synergies and opportunities between countries
  • MP Serré met with Larry Roque, Chief of Wahnapitae First Nation concerning important infrastructure priorities such as roads
  • MP Serré met with Buffy Fulton-Breathat and Lisa Morgan from the Sudbury Community Midwives to discuss the impacts of program cuts at Laurentian University
  • MP Serré participated in the formal launch of the St-Joseph Caring Beyond Capital Campaign aimed at raising critically needed funds to improve infrastructure at their three long-term care home sites
  • MP Serré met with representatives of the Mining Association of Canada to discuss important topics related to mining including moving to more sustainable practices and electrification of mines, changes in legislation and plans to move forward
  • MP Serré participated in the first Peruvian Canadian Institute summit with partners at Hungtinton University, dignitaries and other political representatives to discuss best practices and opportunities regarding education, economic development and Indigenous relations
  • MP Serré participated in an event hosted by ReThink green to shed light on Canada’s path forward and successes achieved on the road to net-zero emissions and greater environmental sustainability
  • MP Serré met with James Crispo a representative of Laurentian University interest group regarding the federal government’s role during the restructuring of the University
  • MP Serré participated in a Facebook live event with former Minister the Honourable Judy Erola, and Minister of Women and Gender Equality and Rural Economic Development about the power of having more women and girls involved in political discussions and in decision making
  • MP Serré met with representatives from Glencore about local operations, their commitment to sustainability and to discuss mining sector trends
  • As a member of the Federal Status of Women Committee, Marc voted in favor of the following motion. The motion states: The committee undertake a study of midwifery services across Canada, of not less than three meetings, including the ramifications of the elimination of Laurentian University's midwifery program and strategies to ensure that access to health services are maintained.
