NICKEL BELT-GREATER SUDBURY - Marc G. Serré, Member of Parliament for Nickel Belt, is honoured to have been appointed Parliamentary Secretary to the Honourable Seamus O’Regan Jr., Minister of Natural Resources.

In his new role as Parliamentary Secretary, Serré will support Minister O’Regan in his ministerial duties, including representing the Minister in the House of Commons and at various events.

Elected in 2015, Marc G. Serré has been a strong advocate for rural communities, especially for the constituents of Nickel Belt and Northern Ontario. Serré has previously served as the Chair of the Liberal Rural Caucus, Chair of the Northern Ontario Liberal Caucus, and as Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Rural Economic Development. He has also served as a member of the Standing Committee on Natural Resources, and his wealth of experience will serve him well in his new role.

As a Northern Ontario Member of Parliament, Serré has seen first-hand the positive impact natural resource sectors can have on local communities and economic development.

Serré will support Minister O’Regan’s mandate to ensure that Canada’s energy and natural resource sectors remain a source of good middle class jobs, prosperity, and opportunity across the country. Our natural resource workers have the ingenuity, determination, and work ethic to build Canada’s low-emissions energy future and Serré will support them as they build an inclusive, sustainable future.

• MP Serré was an active member of the Canada-United States Inter-Parliamentary Group, the Assemblée parlementaire de la Francophonie, and chair of the Canadian Section of ParlAmericas Network.
• He was a member of the Canadian delegation in the United Nations’ 62nd Commission on the Status of Women in New York, and took part in NATO’s 63rd Parliamentary Assembly in Bucharest, Romania.
• Serré earned a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) degree with a specialization in Human Resources and Marketing from Laurentian University. He is also an award-winning telecom technologies researcher and developer, and received the Canadian CANARIE IWAY Award in recognition of his innovative and outstanding achievements in Internet adaptive technology.
• He is a proud recipient of the Ontario Community Action Award for his work in both the non-profit and disability sectors.
• Born and raised in Nickel Belt - Greater Sudbury, Mr. Serré comes from a long line of community volunteers and politicians dedicated to facilitating change and growth in their community.
• MP Serré is a proud francophone and metis descendant from all 4 grandparent familial lineages. He is an avid fisherman and enjoys the many outdoors activities Nickel Belt has to offer with his wife Lynn Loiselle-Serré and five children.
