Recently, the Honourable Jonathan Wilkinson, Minister of Environment and Climate Change launched the new Climate Action and Awareness Fund. This fund will invest $206 million to support projects that encourage engagement and build capacity to reduce emissions. A significant portion of these funds came from the Environmental Damages Fund which collects the money when a fine is leveraged against a polluter.
MP Serré is encouraging all eligible organizations to submit a request for proposals before the October 21st deadline for funds up to $50 million in community-based climate action projects over a maximum of five years. Projects lead by grassroots community organizations, not-for profit organizations, academic institutions, Indigenous communities and climate change researchers who are building climate awareness and tackling climate change are welcome to apply.
